- Walk Data: Walk start/end times, duration, and activities (pee/poo counts) you record
- Dog Photos: Photos you take or select for your dog profiles, including camera and photo library access
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version for technical support

We automatically collect certain information when you use our app:
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and time spent
- Technical Data: IP address, device identifiers, and crash reports
- Location Data: General location information (if you grant permission) for walk tracking

We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Account Management: To create and manage your account, verify your identity, and provide customer support
- App Functionality: To enable walk tracking, group management, statistics, and social features

- Group Features: To manage group memberships, invitations, and group activities
- Photo Management: To store, display, crop, and sync dog photos across your devices through secure cloud storage

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

3.1 Within Your Groups
- Your name and walk statistics are visible to other members of groups you join
- Group owners can see member information for group management purposes
- Walk activities and statistics are shared within your active group
3.2 Service Providers
- Supabase: Our database, authentication, and cloud storage provider stores your account data, walk data, and dog photos
- Email Service: We use secure email services for sending notifications and invitations (currently Zoho Mail SMTP)
- Apple App Store: For app distribution, crash reporting, and basic analytics
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Secure authentication and authorization systems
- Regular security assessments and updates
- Access controls and monitoring
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services:
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion (max 30 days)
- Walk Data: Stored for the duration of your account and group memberships
- Dog Photos: Stored locally on your device and in secure cloud storage while your account is active
- Group Data: Retained while groups are active and for historical reference
- Deleted Account Data: When you delete your account, all personal data including owned groups and dogs are permanently deleted within 30 days
- Walk Records After Account Deletion: Walk records you created in other users' groups (dogs you don't own) are preserved with your original name to maintain accurate pet health history for the dog owners. This helps preserve the integrity of walk tracking for other users' pets.
6. Account Deletion and Data Preservation
When you delete your account through the in-app "Delete Account" feature, we handle your data as follows:
6.1 Data That Gets Deleted
- Your user account and authentication information
- Your personal profile information
- Groups (dogs) that you own, including all walks for those dogs
- Your group memberships
- Dog photos you uploaded
- Your account from our authentication system
6.2 Data That Gets Preserved
- Walk Records for Other Users' Dogs: Walk records you created for dogs owned by other users are preserved with your original name. This ensures:
- Dog owners maintain complete health and activity history for their pets
- Walk statistics and trends remain accurate
- Historical data integrity is preserved for pet care purposes
- These preserved records cannot be used to recreate your account or contact you
- This practice is common in pet tracking applications to maintain medical and care continuity
6.3 Rationale
This approach balances your privacy rights with the legitimate interests of other users who depend on accurate pet health records. Walk data is critical for:
- Veterinary care and health monitoring
- Behavioral pattern tracking
- Care consistency when multiple people walk the same dog
- Long-term health trend analysis
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Access and Control
You have the right to:
- Access: View and review all your personal information stored in the app
- Update: Modify or correct your account information, profile, and preferences
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and all associated data through the in-app "Delete Account" feature. Note: Walk records you created for other users' dogs will be preserved with your name to maintain pet health history for dog owners
- Export: Request a copy of your data in a portable format by contacting support
- Camera/Photos: Control camera and photo library access through your device settings
- Withdraw Consent: Remove permissions and stop data collection at any time
7.2 Communication Preferences
You can control email notifications and communications through your account settings.
7.3 Device Permissions
You control the following permissions through your device settings:
- Camera: Required for taking photos of your dog directly in the app
- Photo Library: Required for selecting existing photos from your device
- Location Services: Optional - can be enabled for enhanced walk tracking features
8. Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
10. Subscription and Payment Information
10.1 Payment Processing
For subscription services, we work with Apple App Store to process payments:
- Payment Information: All payment processing is handled directly by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or process your credit card or payment information.
- Receipt Validation: We receive encrypted receipt data from Apple to verify subscription status and provide access to premium features.
- Subscription Status: We store your subscription status (active/inactive) and subscription product type to control access to features.

10.2 Subscription Data

LIABILITY CAP: Our total liability for any privacy-related claims is limited to ONE DOLLAR ($1.00 USD) maximum.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We provide privacy services "as is" without warranties
- We disclaim all liability for data breaches beyond our control
- Users assume all risks related to data sharing and transmission
- Our liability for any privacy violation is capped at $1.00 USD total
- Users indemnify us against privacy-related third-party claims

This Privacy Policy is governed by Delaware law. Any privacy disputes must be resolved through individual arbitration, not class action lawsuits.
